Mr. Pramod Sagar Singh Pradhan

Over 30 years in Information Communication Technology,
Administrative and Financial Information Systems,
Decision Support Systems, Geo-Informatics,
Environment and Natural Resources Management,
and Spatial Information Technology

An environmental GIS practitioner and the former Manager of GRID-Kathmandu and Division Head of ICIMOD/MENRIS has mainly contributed to the institutionalization of GIS for natural resources management in Hindu Kush-Himalayas. His recent endeavour involves establishment of South Asian Institute of Technology a post-graduate institute for studies in IT, Geo-informatics, Rural Development, Regional Planning and Natural Resources Management. He is on the Board of the Asian Institute of Technology and Management (AITM) that is conducting AIT Thailand courses in Nepal. He is currently the Executive Director and Faculty at the South Asian Institute of Technology (SAIT), Affiliated to Purbanchal University, Nepal and Executive Chairperson at National Information Technology Institute (NITI), Nepal.

He has conducted ICT and GIS advisory work for WWF Nepal, Watershed Development Project of Jharkhand – India, Rural Access Program (RAP/DFID)– Nepal, Decentralised Administrative Support Unit (DASU/DANIDA), Ministry of Science and Technology – Nepal, Gulmi Arghakhanchi Rural Development Project (GARDP II /EC) – Nepal, Department of Roads – Nepal, Nepal Electricity Authority, Nepal Water Supply and Sanitation Corporation. He has worked as an ICT consultant for Asian Development Bank. He has been a national consultant (ICT Expert) for Awareness Raising and Dissemination of Nepal Info, Poverty Monitoring in Support of PRSP, NPC-HMG/UNDP Nepal as well as a national Consultant (IT Specialist) for DSS-IT Framework for Poverty Monitoring NPC-HMG/UNDP Nepal.

Mr. Pradhan is the founding president of Nepal GIS Society and a former president of Asian Institute of Technology Alumni Association Nepal. He is a member of Working Group on Earth Observation, Asia Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum, Japan. He is a member of the subject committee for Computer Science and Engineering at Kathmandu University. He acts as an advisor for Malpi International School, Nepal and Modern Nepal College, Kathmandu. He is also the immediate past president of Rotary Club of Yala.
